About the Haven Community
The Haven Community CIC is being developed as a safe, welcoming community space in Lochgelly — created for anyone who feels isolated, overlooked, or like there’s “nothing for them.”
We believe everyone deserves somewhere they can go to feel included, supported, and connected. A place to sit with a coffee, have a chat, take part in positive activities, or simply feel safe in the community rather than staying at home alone.
The Haven is rooted in real local need. While there is existing provision for younger children and older adults, there is limited structured support and safe evening activity for:
-
young people aged 12–18
-
working-age adults who may be experiencing isolation, low confidence, or loneliness
This gap can contribute to boredom-led anti-social behaviour, poor mental wellbeing, and a lack of positive community connection.
Our aim is to provide a calm, non-judgemental space that brings people together, reduces isolation, and helps build confidence through community activities, wellbeing sessions, creative opportunities,
and informal support.
The Haven also has an online shop. We help reduce waste by selling returned and liquidated stock that would otherwise often go to landfill. All profits are reinvested into supporting the local community and helping sustain the space long-term.
We are developing The Haven step-by-step — starting small, building trust, and growing with the community.
